Congrats to Carina Wallis, our Rotarian of the Year!

Carina is everywhere. She played a big role on the Ribfest organizing committee, oversees Interact, organizes Rotary’s involvement in Adventures in Healthcare, and serves on the RYLE committee. On top of all that, she still finds time to volunteer at the Drive‑Thru Breakfast and put together the Crystal Cup Rotary Kids Colouring Contest.

Carina is the kind of person who gets things done and makes a real difference in our community. Well deserved, Carina!

The 2025 Rotary Ribfest was another wonderful community event in Fort St. John! Big crowds came out to enjoy the beautiful weather, fantastic live music, and of course, mouth-watering ribs. 

Most importantly, the proceeds from Ribfest will go directly toward supporting service projects right here in Fort St. John!

A major highlight of the weekend was the Murray GM Ribfest Competition. The competition brought out some serious talent and even more serious flavours.

Blazin’ BBQ, led by Will and Ned, impressed the judges and walked away as the Best Sauce winners, while Brooke from Silver Bullet BBQ earned the title of Best Ribs.

Congratulations to all the competitors and a big thank you to the judges, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, and everyone who came out to support this great cause. See you next year!

This week, the Rotary Club of Fort St. John recognized past president Cameron Eggie with a golden gavel and plaque to show our appreciation for his tireless devotion and faithful leadership through the first year of COVID-19.

With all the restrictions and protocols, it was a really tough year for our club and membership to not have all the events and social engagement we are so used to having.

Cameron’s hard work successfully navigated us through the pandemic, kept us whole, and continued our efforts to raise funds for the community. He paved the way for this year’s president Vince van Wieringen, and for all our future presidents.

Thank you Cameron for your dedication to Rotary, your humility and humour, and your continued work toward the betterment and growth of Fort St. John!
