Charlie Lake & Surrounding Area

Charlie Lake is surrounded by a beautiful park and offers excellent fishing, with Walleye, Northern Pike, and Yellow Perch among the most popular species.

Many attractions and amenities are nearby, including the Tse’k’wa National Historic Site, which has contributed to understanding environmental changes and human settlement from the end of the last glacial period 12,500 years ago to the present day. This exceptional archaeological site is located in the traditional territory of the Dane-zaa First Nations of Treaty 8, and managed by the Tse’k’wa Heritage Society, which can be contacted to arrange for a tour.

Visit the Charlie Lake Alaska Highway Memorial, commemorated in memory of 12 American soldiers who lost their lives after their boat carrying equipment and supplies capsized during the construction of the historic war-time highway. And make sure to stop in for food and drinks at the lakeside Red Barn Pub and Eatery.

Proceeds raised through Ross H. Maclean Rotary Park support nonprofit organizations and Rotary initiatives in Fort St. John and the North Peace.
