A great turnout today for Skate Fest, celebrating the Rotary Skate Park and its benefit to youth and families in our community! Lots of Rotarians came out to serve the kids, help clean up the park, and display the model of Service Above Self.
A big thank you Cole Andrews, Jackson Andrews, and Thomas Taylor for coming out to give lessons to kids of all ages and experience, and thanks to Strait Pipelines there were 15 free skateboards given out to kids too! Our thanks also go to Salvation Army for providing their food truck and cooking up burgers, and to WL Construction for coming out to help us at least try to wash off some of the graffiti - more work to do on that later!
We heard good feedback about the park and some cool ideas for the future. Demonstrated by the amount of kids who came out, it’s evident that Rotary Skate Park is a valuable component of our community’s recreation offering. We hope to do more events like these in the future!
